![]() ![]() ![]() I reviewed this book honestly and voluntarily. Thanks to Henry Holt and Co and to the good people of Goodreads for my copy of this book won via giveaway. She has an incredible talent not just for the work she has done and the life she has lived but for her ability to write so vividly about it. This phenomenal group of creatives discuss race and immigration in the UK, through their own stories and experiences. I found myself laughing out loud a many time. This September, writer Nikesh Shukla releases The Good Immigrant, a collection of essays by 21 British black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) writers, poets, journalists and artists. She doesn't sweeten the rough stuff for us. Her writing style is raw, gripping, and she has a strong powerful voice as I imagine her in my mind. Racism, being an immigrant, poverty, being a woman. A powerful memoir about a powerful black woman that has come to America as a Haitian immigrant, grew up in the rough world of the NYC housing projects, persevered, put in the hard work, faced the odds, and made a successful mark for herself in a competitive corporate world.Ĭin Fabre faced many hardships. ![]()
